In 1996, Jeremy Shepherd, on a shoestring budget, established PearlParadise.com. By 2008, the company has become the Internet’s largest pearl retailer. All of this was accomplished with no background in pearls, e-commerce or jewelry, and with no traditional advertising.
Jeremy was born in Germany, the son of a U.S. Army officer. Growing up in both in the U.S. and abroad, he developed a sense of adventure and a fascination with languages, mastering both Spanish and Japanese while still in his teens. He even learned to speak the obscure Chuuk language of the South Pacific Micronesian Islanders, and later was Berlitz-trained in Mandarin Chinese.
PearlParadise.com continues to grow at a tremendous rate, more than doubling in sales every year from 2001, with the past two years' sales totaling over $40 million. In 2006, Jeremy invested in a pearl farm in China which will harvest its first crop this year, utilizing state of the art equipment and technology. He continues to enjoy a worldwide reputation for his uncompromising quality standards, farm-direct prices, and stellar relationships with his customers.
